Writers in Residence Volume 2: Journeyman features four units (each with four modules for 16 modules in total) that include a writing assignment and cover a range of language arts concepts in addition to the six traits of good writing and the writing process. These units are:

•Unit 1: "Investigate": includes "Into the Wild" science report writing assignment and covers MLA formatting, citing sources, avoiding plagiarism, interrogatives, and titles
•Unit 2: "I Think": includes "Making the Case" argument essay writing assignment and covers subjects, predicates, modifiers, connectors, subject complements, verb complements, direct objects, and indirect objects
•Unit 3: "I Remember": includes "Poetry Jam" poetry writing assignment and covers personal pronouns, possessive pronouns, possessive adjectives, antecedents, point of view, and punctuation
•Unit 4: "I Imagine": Includes "A Fantastical Tale of Extraordinary Exploits" fantastical tale writing assignment and covers reflexive pronouns, indefinite pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, agreement, and punctuation.

Thorough and systematic, the lively and colorful lessons build on previously-taught concepts, skills, and terms. This easy-to-use, "all-in-one" Student Text and Workbook features an engaging tone that's written directly to the student. Each unit opener includes a focus on a Christian writer and unit introduction with student rubric. Modules open with "writer's questions," a sneak peak at what students will learn in the module, a step-by-step list of what students will be working on for their writing assignment, and other helpful information. Modules are made up of multiple lessons; these lessons integrate clear, engaging instruction with sidebar notes, examples of student writing, and a variety of exercises.

This series is designed for students in Grade 4 & up. Students who begin Volume 2: Journeyman should understand the basic parts of speech and how they function in a sentence. They should also be capable of writing a very basic, multi-paragraph essay. If they are not, it is suggested that they begin with Writers in Residence Volume 1: Apprentice (not-included and sold-separately). This course can be used alone or in conjunction with the (sold-separately) Readers in Residence program.
